Walking for Huntington’s Disease

Vicky Bibiris and Megan Eighteen are preparing for an 11-mile hike up the Peak District’s Mam Tor to raise funds for Huntington’s Disease.

The Stoke Newington estate agents are joining Do It for Dom – a charity event set up in honour of Dominic Subbiani, a popular estate agent who was diagnosed with an incurable disease in 2007.

Vicky, whose partner Amy Shields will also be taking part, said: “We’ll be starting at 5 am and walking all day – with a brief stop to wet the whistle!  I’m really excited – I love walking and we’ll be with some wonderful people from the industry.  Dom is one of our own and we all share the mission of raising funds to help find a cure and prevention for this dreadful illness.

“This is the first time I’ve taken part in a Do it for Dom fundraiser but I’ve heard great stories about the friendships made in previous events.”

Megan added: “I’m really excited to be involved in raising funds for such an important charity. It feels like a tough adventure but I have enjoyed all the additional walks and views whilst I’ve been training. Thank you to everyone who has donated to team Location Location – we’ve raised £700 so far.”

Since 2017, Do it for Dom charitable days (from canoeing to hiking up mountains) have raised more than £200,000 and it’s hoped that this Peak District event will raise a further £50,000 towards the treatment and care of those suffering from Huntington’s Disease.

Huntington’s Disease is a condition that stops parts of the brain from working over time – it’s inherited from a person’s parents and gradually worsens. Dom requires round-the-clock medical assistance and lives in a palliative care home.
