From office job to hardcore punk

When Jason Heightman isn’t producing dazzling real estate videos, he’s been spotted crowd-surfing on an inflatable shark and climbing the walls.

The 33-year-old Marketing Manager for Location Location estate agency is also the lead singer in hardcore punk band, Chaos Reigns.

“There’s nothing melodic about our music,” he said. “It’s visceral, chaotic punk.”

He added, “It’s about creating art and memorable experiences. My mum would prefer I played country music!

“I move how the music moves – I’ve a tendency to climb on bars, speakers and people! I just fill the space.”

Chaos Reigns performs in packed dive bars and venues around the capital. They rehearse at Pirate Studios in Dalston and are about to record a new EP – six songs inspired by themes of mental health, greed, suicide and addiction.

Jason said: “I know it might sound odd but playing hardcore punk is somehow therapeutic. It’s probably the reason why I’m so laid back the rest of the time. Being in a practice room, screaming for three hours does kind of get any tension out of your system.

“One of my best moments performing was spotting Frank Carter in the crowd – he’s the UK’s top punk guy. At the end he told me the show was sick.”

The band are playing at Blondies in Clapton on February 1st, tickets are available via DICE.

Jason joined the band three years ago. Cycling home from his successful audition, feeling excited, he was then knocked off his bike by a van. “Luckily I just bounced off the road,” he said.

His teammates at Location Location are planning on watching him soon. Something tells us they’re going to need some Alka Seltzer after!
