Local events you don’t want to miss across Stokey and Hackney 

There’s a lot happening locally over the next few weeks, from theatre and food festivals to community meet-ups, running crowds and a little Stoke Newington history. Here are a few dates worth having on your radar. 

Clissold Park FEASTival | 12–14 June 

From Friday 12 June to Sunday 14 June 2026Clissold Park FEASTival returns to Stoke Newington. Expect street food, bars, alfresco dining, live music, family entertainment, a mini funfair and Grumpy Geoff’s land train. 

It is very much one for families, food lovers and anyone who wants an easy local weekend plan in the park.

Clyde’s at Tower Theatre, Stoke Newington | 13–23 May 

Tower Theatre is staging Clyde’s by Lynn Nottage from Wednesday 13 May to Saturday 23 May 2026, with evening performances at 7.30pm and Saturday matinees at 3pm. The play is set in a truck stop sandwich shop, where a group of formerly incarcerated kitchen staff are trying to rebuild their lives, one sandwich at a time. It is a fierce comedy about resilience, redemption and second chances.

Hackney Half weekend | 16–17 May 

The Hackney Half takes place on Sunday 17 May 2026, and while runner places for 2026 are now sold out, there is still plenty of reason t 

It is one of those days when Hackney really comes alive. Even if you are not running, it is worth heading out to cheer. The closed-road route brings runners through the heart of Hackney, with live music, cheering crowds, run crew cheer zones and a big race-day atmosphere. 

The route starts and finishes around Hackney Marshes, passing areas including Homerton, Hackney Downs, Dalston, Haggerston, Broadway Market, London Fields, Victoria Park and Hackney Wick. You can view the official race information and route details on Hackney Moves

Abney Park Chapel open morning | 7 June 

On Sunday 7 June 2026, Abney Park Trust is opening the restored chapel from 11am to 1pm. You can drop in to see inside the chapel, and at midday there will be a free 30-minute talk about Eric Walrond, the Harlem Renaissance writer buried at Abney Park. 

The Trust is also inviting local people to share their memories of the chapel, which makes this feel like a lovely community moment as well as a chance to step inside one of Stoke Newington’s most atmospheric buildings.

Stoke Newington history tour | 7 June 

Also on Sunday 7 June 2026, Stories of our Streets is running a St Mary’s Churches Stoke Newington history tour, starting at The Old Church. The tour explores more than 450 years of local history through the story of the two St Mary’s churches, which famously face each other across Stoke Newington Church Street.

Mums Who Build Stokey Hangout at Location Location | 10 June 

On Wednesday 10 JuneMums Who Build will be back at our Church Street office for another Stokey hangout. These sessions are all about creating a supportive space for mums, founders and women building businesses, careers or new chapters. 

Mums Who Build is focused on helping mums build financial security, confidence and community, and Location Location has been proud to host their Stoke Newington sessions for more than a year.
