An exciting line-up of chefs are preparing to tantalise tastebuds when Sessions launches its food hall in August.
The project, which will occupy what used to be Rodizio Rico Brazilian restaurant in Upper Street, aims to help emerging talent succeed, by offering support with menu development, financing, marketing and more.
You’ll be able to eat in-house or order a delivery. Among the chefs preparing to cook up a storm are Jay Morjaria of Tiger and Rabbit (modern Korean food), Hasan Semay of Big Has (no-nonsense flavours from the Mediterranean), Zoe Adjonyoh of Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen and Richie Hayes and Elliot Kaye of Norman’s (classic breakfasts).
A spokesperson for Sessions said:
“We believe a new wave of pioneers must disrupt the status quo. Success should depend on quality, passion and commitment, not on institutionalised advantage.
“We think giving independent food brands everything they need to succeed will change the hospitality industry and ultimately give you more exciting food choice.”
The past couple of years have been tough for the hospitality industry – the pandemic and the high cost of borrowing, has added financial barriers for restaurant entrepreneurs.
Founded in 2019 by the former MD of Deliveroo Dan Warne and former Soho House finance chief Ian Bankes, Sessions Food Hall is due to open on Thursday August 11.
Sessions also runs the popular ‘Shelter Hall’ on Brighton Seafront – a food market featuring seven kitchens with rotating residencies as well as cocktail and wine bars. Customers order using a QR code from their table.
The team are keen to hear from other chefs interested in joining the Islington platform.
