Young people will be able to learn martial arts, cookery, football, basketball, DJ’ing and arts and crafts at a free holiday camp this summer.
The camp, which is being run by Taking Shape with support from Adidas and Foot Patrol, is open to children aged 11 to 16 and takes place at Stoke Newington School and Sixth Form over two weeks in August (8th-11th and 15th-18th) from 10am till 2pm.
Jenna Fansa, founder of StokeyParents, said:
“It’s wonderful to see something so positive being offered to young people and for free! Many families are struggling with the cost-of living and summer holidays is always a crunch-point for parents.“
“Many young people miss out on opportunities like this because the cost can be out of reach so it’s great to something that’s accessible to all.”
Taking Shape is a charitable organisation helping build focus, determination, positive work ethic and self-confidence – characteristics that can be transferred to other aspects of life such as work, school and relationships.
It was founded by Kevin Stuart in 2013. Having misbehaved in his teens his life was changed when he began to learn Kung Fu. He’s now on a mission to have a positive impact on other teens and adults.
